The Beginning

1968

Maco Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. was founded by Shri Maganlal Ambhavibhai Patel. The company started the trading of indigenous industrial products in West Bengal, India.

Establishing Global Footprints

1982

Beginning of importing of spares for steel industry, to cater to customer requirements.

1983

Sons of Shri Maganlal Patel, Subhash Patel and Nagesh Patel, join Maco.

1988

Deublin, USA and Spraying System Co., USA, become first agencies of Maco.

Growth & Expansion

1992

Undertaking of project at Bokaro Steel (CRM 1) for replacement of roll force measuring system, in collaboration with Kelk, Canada.

1993

First corporate office outside Kolkata was set up in Mumbai.

1994

Major breakthrough in turnkey project segment, with installation of 3 Reheating Furnaces in Bokaro, in collaboration with Iritechna, Italy.

1997

First Joint venture with Maschinenfabrik Koppern & Co KG, Germany.

Broadening Horizons

2002

Establishment of M/s. Desmet Reagent Pvt. Ltd, with its first plant at Jamshedpur, to cater to Tata Steel.

2005

  • Second Joint Venture with IMS Messsysteme GmbH, Germany.

  • Third Joint Venture with Siegerland Bremsen GmbH, Germany.

  • Sibre India started manufacturing of brakes, along with export to overseas market.

2006

First service contract for installation and commissioning of Mobile Fire Suppression System in mining equipment.

2008

  • Built the world’s largest Bell Annealing Furnace for CR Coils with 47 bases at Bokaro Steel Plant, with Radcon USA.

  • Collaborated with world-renowned technology supplier of steel industry, Danieli, Tenova and Sarclad, to execute a turnkey project at Bokaro Steel Plant.

  • Desmet set up its second plant at Bhilai to produce De-sulphurising compound.

2009

Fourth Joint Venture with Metalock UK, a part of Midroc Group, Sweden.

The Saga continues

2011

  • Built the world’s largest capacity long-rail (260m) welding line at Bhilai Steel Plant with Railtech France.

  • First DS Management contract in the world between Desmet and Bhushan Steel, Angul for De-Sulphurisation of hot metal.

2014

  • Establishment of Maco USA.

  • Desmet sets up its third plant at Surat to produce De-Sulphurising compound.

2015

  • Metalock Maco wins the prestigious Midroc Challenge Awards.

  • Export of first Briquetting Press manufactured in India to Koppern Germany.

  • Establishment of Maco Dubai.

2016

  • First international turnkey Steel plant project at Emirates Steel - Abu Dhabi (UAE), for revamping and repairing of cooling chambers.

  • Maco starts providing chartered work over rig services to Essar CBM project.

2017

Mining Strategic Business Unit of Maco wins the Best Distributor Award for South East Asia, 2017, for Ansul Fire Fighting Systems.

2018

  • Opening of office in Bangladesh.

  • Entered in Access Rental industry with brand new Genie machines.

2019

  • Initiation of another service by Maco, with Composite Mats Rental at L&T and ONGC.

  • First EPC contract from RITES for setting up of Freight Train maintenance facility with ROH facility for Freight Wagons at Sarla station yard, Sambalpur, Odisha.
